Al\u00e9m da ilha do Sal, achei que era uma mais valia visitar Santiago, a maior e a ilha mais africana de todas onde est\u00e1 a capital administrativa do arquip\u00e9lago.<br \/>\nNos seus 75km por 35km, Santiago esconde uma paisagem mais verde, com montanhas escarpadas e vales verdejantes com fragmentos de hist\u00f3ria que nos transportam aos anos do colonialismo.<br \/>\nAterr\u00e1mos cedo no Aeroporto Nelson Mandela, a\u00ed j\u00e1 nos esperava o transfer para a cidade da Praia, a capital da ilha, para o Hotel Oasis Praiamar.\u00a0A estrada que hoje faz a liga\u00e7\u00e3o da cidade ao aeroporto j\u00e1 foi, em tempos, a pr\u00f3pria pista do aeroporto, hoje em dia aumentado.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nNa cidade da Praia, uma cidade muito movimentada com o t\u00edpico tr\u00e2nsito africano, h\u00e1 alguns pontos de interesse como a Cidade Velha, onde n\u00e3o cheg\u00e1mos a ir. A Cidade Velha foi o lugar onde os portugueses chegaram quando descobriram Cabo Verde e que \u00e9 hoje Patrim\u00f3nio Mundial.\u00a0O mercado de Sucupira fica na Avenida Cidade de Lisboa e \u00e9 de visita obrigat\u00f3ria para quem gosta de regatear.<br \/>\nNa cidade da Praia na pra\u00e7a Alexandre Albuquerque existem ainda muitas casas com aspecto colonial que comprovam a exist\u00eancia dos colonos portugueses em tempos que j\u00e1 l\u00e1 v\u00e3o.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2212\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ilh\u00e9u de Santa Maria, casa em ru\u00ednas para onde mandavam os leprosos<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Na cidade da Praia pode-se dar um mergulho na Praia de Quebra Canela, Prainha, Mulher Branca ou Gamboa.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2215\" src=\"https:\/\/www.avidalafora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/img_4849.jpg\" alt=\"img_4849\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><br \/>\nA volta \u00e0 ilha era inevit\u00e1vel, n\u00f3s e um casal angolano pass\u00e1mos um dia numa carrinha com um guia que j\u00e1 tinha estado muitas vezes em Portugal e que nos mostrou tudo o que conseguiu nesta ilha.<br \/>\nO ponto mais alto da ilha de Santiago \u00e9 o Pico da Ant\u00f3nia e tem1394 metros de altura.\u00a0Relativamente \u00e0 vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o existe em grande quantidade a ac\u00e1cia americana que d\u00e1 vagens para os animais e madeira para lenha.\u00a0Cultiva-se bastante milho e feij\u00e3o, como foi um ano de muita chuva (a chuva vem entre Julho e Outubro), o milho est\u00e1 bom.<br \/>\nAs estradas no interior da ilha n\u00e3o s\u00e3o muito movimentadas mas algumas est\u00e3o em mau estado, h\u00e1 muitas curvas e subidas e descidas, pelo que \u00e9 preciso cuidado a conduzir pela ilha.<br \/>\n<img da eleva\u00e7\u00e3o mais alta de Santiago, o Pico da Ant\u00f3nia, fica o Jardim Bot\u00e2nico, o \u00fanico do arquip\u00e9lago, onde existem muitas calabaceiras que d\u00e3o um fruto que faz um \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2263\" src=\"https:\/\/www.avidalafora.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/img_4970.jpg\" alt=\"img_4970\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><br \/>\nDepois de almo\u00e7o foi tempo de visitar o antigo Campo de Concentra\u00e7\u00e3o do Tarrafal, o &#8220;Campo da Morte Lenta&#8221;, e de nos envergonharmos da nossa hist\u00f3ria e do que ali fiz\u00e9mos.<br \/>\nO Campo de Concentra\u00e7\u00e3o do Tarrafal situado em Ch\u00e3o Bom foi criada pelo Governo portugu\u00eas no Estado Novo com o intuito de enviar para l\u00e1 os presos pol\u00edticos. Em 1936 seguiam para o Campo os primeiros presos pol\u00edticos que incluiam alguns dos participantes do 18 de Janeiro de 1936 na Marinha Grande e marinheiros da Revolta dos Marinheiros ocorrida a 8 de Setembro de 1936.<br \/>\nEm 1954 o Campo foi encerrado mas voltou a reabrir em 1961 para receber prisioneiros das col\u00f3nias portuguesas. Entre outras torturas destacavam-se a Frigideira ou a Tortura do Sono e da Fome.\u00a0Trinta e dois portugueses, dois angolanos, dois guineenses perderam ali a vida. Outros morreram j\u00e1 depois da sua liberta\u00e7\u00e3o em consequ\u00eancia do que ali passaram.<br \/>\nHoje em dia est\u00e1 convertido num museu para que nunca nos esque\u00e7amos das atrocidades que ali se cometeram e de quem ali sofreu na pele o regime fascista.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2264\"
